ACPIMSFT0101 Device Hotfix for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008
Summary
This article describes a hotfix that adds support for Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.
Details:
The details on the device will show ACPIMSFT0101. Figure 1. English only. This device corresponds to the TPM module which does not have a driver. It is only good for W7 64 bit. Now if you have to run W7 32 bit, check your PC's BIOS and see if there is a setting to turn off the ACPIMSFT0101 device.
When attempting to recover the operating system from Microsoft Window 8 or 10 to Windows 7 or from Windows 7 to an earlier version of Windows 7, you may encounter an error message that states, "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."
To resolve this issue, you can download and run the Microsoft hotfix for the ACPIMSFT0101 device. The hotfix will install the device and allow you to continue with the operating system recovery.
Note: Not sure why the AMD HDMI audio device is showing up as the ACPIMSFT0101 device.
